A legal contract between a bond issuer and bondholders that specifies all terms and conditions of the bond issue. The indenture includes details such as interest rate, maturity date, redemption features, covenants, events of default, and remedies available to bondholders. A trustee is appointed to represent bondholders' interests and ensure the issuer complies with indenture provisions.
