sub-delegation

English Definition
The re-delegation by a party, to whom an authority has been delegated, of that authority or part of it to a third party. Its validity often turns on whether the original instrument of delegation expressly permits sub-delegation; absent permission the sub-delegation may be void and responsibility remains with the original delegate. The matter is functional in syndicated loans and security-agent structures, where the agent's power to sub-delegate defined tasks while retaining responsibility fixes the lenders' interface on a single counterpart and simplifies governance.
