English Definition
The rise in the stock of capital per worker — production becoming progressively more capital-intensive. It is one of the principal sources of gains in labour productivity in economic growth and, together with technological advance, defines the growth pattern of developed economies. For infrastructure and project investment, capital deepening supplies the economic logic behind structural demand for large fixed-capital outlays such as automation and grid modernisation; an economy moving in this direction creates a deeper, more predictable financing base for capital-intensive projects.
