English Definition
The factor that converts a present value into a stream of equal periodic payments over a given term at a given discount rate, being the reciprocal of the annuity present-value factor; its formula forms the shared backbone of level-payment debt amortization and unit-cost analysis. In project finance it underpins the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) used in renewable tenders, reducing capital expenditure to an equivalent annual charge; because even a small shift in the discount rate moves unit cost disproportionately for long-lived assets, the real dispute over a PPA price floor often knots around the rate assumption behind this factor.
