English Definition
The net cash flowing into a business from borrowing, equity issuance and similar sources, reported in the financing section of the cash-flow statement. In project companies this line consists almost entirely of loan drawdowns and capital injections during construction, and its positive sign confirms that the project is not yet generating its own cash. Lenders read it to police whether draws proceed equity-first or pro-rata, since requiring equity to be spent ahead of debt front-loads the sponsor's skin in the game.
