English Definition
The established abbreviation for "cargo" in international transport and commercial correspondence, denoting goods dispatched by a carrier. The operational context may look trivial, yet in project financing the shipment of heavy equipment — transformers, turbines, modules — is often a one-off, high-value consignment whose replacement takes months; the accuracy of the bill of lading and the scope of cargo insurance therefore bear directly on the commercial operation date, and hence on when revenue begins, should the shipment be delayed. A discrepancy in the description of the goods can suspend payment under a letter of credit.
