Bir banka tarafından hesap sahibine verilen, üzerinde ödeme talimatı düzenlenebilen matbu çek yapraklarından oluşan defterdir; her yaprak, hesaptan ödeme yapılması için bankaya verilmiş yazılı bir talimattır. Kurumsal kullanımda çek defteri, karşılıksız çek riski ve imza yetkisi kötüye kullanımı nedeniyle sıkı iç kontrole tabi tutulur; kullanılan ve iptal edilen yaprakların seri numarası takibi, mutabakat sürecinin temelidir. Proje finansmanında teminata konu hesaplara ait çek defterlerinin düzenlenmesi ve saklanması, çoğu zaman hesap kontrol sözleşmesiyle kredi verenin gözetimine bağlanır.
English Definition
A book of pre-printed check leaves issued by a bank to an account holder on which payment instructions may be written; each leaf is a written order to the bank to pay from the account. In corporate use the cheque book is kept under tight internal control because of the risk of dishonored checks and misuse of signing authority; tracking the serial numbers of used and voided leaves underpins the reconciliation process. In project financing, the issuance and safekeeping of cheque books for charged accounts is often placed under lender oversight through an account control agreement.
