English Definition
The senior officer responsible for a company's financial planning, reporting, treasury, and capital-structure decisions. In project financing the CFO's role spans preparing drawdown requests and covenant compliance certificates, hedging interest-rate and currency risk, and running the cash-flow waterfall correctly; this office is usually the institutional counterpart on the continuous reconciliation line with lenders. Because the accuracy of the compliance certificate the CFO signs amounts to a repetition of the representations in the loan agreement, an erroneous certificate can ripen into an event of default.
