English Definition
The most senior executive responsible for an entity's financial affairs — financial reporting, capital structure, liquidity, treasury operations, and investor relations. In project financing the sponsor's CFO typically becomes the person whose attention concentrates on compliance with financial covenants and on the computation of ratios such as the DSCR. Many credit agreements require that specified financial certificates be signed by the CFO personally, because that signature, while not a personal guarantee, documents corporate responsibility and can, in the event of a misstatement, itself constitute an event of default.
