English Definition
The acceptance of a bill of exchange or draft by the drawee without attaching any qualification, condition or reservation, so that the acceptor undertakes the instrument exactly as drawn. Unlike a qualified acceptance that alters the tenor, amount or place of payment, a clean acceptance keeps the instrument freely discountable and endorsable in the secondary market. In acceptance financing a bank's willingness to discount the paper frequently turns on this unconditional character, since any qualification reopens the credit analysis.
