English Definition
The portfolio of prospective clients and projects a developer or service provider is advancing through different stages of maturity but has not yet converted into revenue; expected future volume is estimated by weighting each stage with its probability of realisation. In energy projects the pipeline's true value lies not in aggregate megawatts but in which projects have cleared the interconnection queue, secured site control and passed permitting. A pipeline full of early-stage options may look impressive, yet the share of projects that have reached financeable maturity is what sets the sponsor's real valuation multiple.
