English Definition
In the syndication of a securities issue, a house ranking below the lead and co-lead managers, carrying a smaller distribution allotment and a limited structuring role. Though its economic share is modest, a co-manager is brought into the syndicate to widen access to a particular investor segment — local institutions, a retail network, or a niche geography. In project and infrastructure issues this diversity of reach deepens the demand book, and a deep book yields not only a better price but also a steadier trading performance in the secondary market once the paper is placed.
