In market slang, information beyond the numbers that conveys the qualitative context behind a transaction or market condition — the true depth of demand, the counterparty's real appetite, the intent behind a price — so a request to "give some colour on this issue" seeks precisely that tacit knowledge. Its value lies in surfacing the frictions that never appear on screen yet determine the outcome. In project-finance syndications the colour an arranging bank gathers from lenders betrays the deal's real priceability well before any formal term sheet.
