English Definition
An amount the lender has contractually committed but the borrower has not yet drawn, standing as an obligation rather than deployed cash. In project financing this balance tracks the construction drawdown schedule, and the undrawn portion typically carries a commitment fee, so it begins generating cost before any money reaches the account. Because the lender's obligation to reserve capital persists, the amount continues to consume risk-weighted assets on the bank's book, which is why the drawdown calendar is negotiated as tightly by the lender as by the borrower.
