Orantılı (proportional) bir reasürans anlaşmasında, sedan şirketin elinde tuttuğu payı değil, sedan ile reasürörlerin birlikte oluşturduğu ortak hesabın tamamını koruyacak biçimde satın alınan üst-katman korumadır; tipik olarak orijinal reasürörlerin de menfaatine hareket eden bir hasar fazlası (excess of loss) düzenlemesidir. Amacı, büyük tek bir hasarın orantılı anlaşmaya taraf herkesi aynı anda vurmasını engellemek ve maliyeti taraflar arasında paya göre paylaştırmaktır. Sermaye-yoğun altyapı ve enerji projelerinin sigortalanmasında bu yapı önem taşır, zira tek bir tesise ilişkin katastrofik hasar, riski taşıyan tüm katmanları ortak hesap üzerinden eşzamanlı olarak etkiler.
English Definition
In a proportional reinsurance treaty, an upper-layer protection bought to cover not the ceding insurer's retained share alone but the whole common account formed jointly by the cedant and its reinsurers, typically an excess-of-loss arrangement operating for the benefit of the original reinsurers as well. Its purpose is to prevent a single large loss from striking every party to the proportional treaty at once, and to spread the cost among them in proportion to share. The structure matters in insuring capital-intensive infrastructure and energy projects, since a catastrophic loss at one facility hits all risk-bearing layers simultaneously through the common account.
