Bir işletmenin faaliyet gösterdiği; rakip sayısı, giriş engelleri, alıcı ve tedarikçi pazarlık gücü ile fiyat baskısının biçimlendirdiği dış piyasa koşullarıdır. Proje finansmanında bu ortam doğrudan gelir riskine tercüme olur: çıktısını uzun vadeli bir alım sözleşmesiyle (off-take) satan bir proje rekabetçi ortamdan büyük ölçüde yalıtılmışken, merchant esasıyla satan bir proje fiyat dalgalanmasına tümüyle açıktır. Kredi verenler bu ayrımı doğrudan kaldıraç oranına yansıtır; sözleşmeli gelirli projelere daha yüksek borç oranı tanınırken, rekabetçi piyasaya maruz projelerde borç servis örtüsü (DSCR) daha muhafazakâr tutulur.
English Definition
The external market conditions shaping a firm's strategy — the number of rivals, entry barriers, the bargaining power of buyers and suppliers, and price pressure. In project finance this environment translates directly into revenue risk: a project selling its output under a long-term offtake contract is largely insulated from competitive pressure, whereas one selling on a merchant basis is fully exposed to price swings. Lenders reflect the distinction straight in leverage — contracted-revenue projects are granted higher debt, while projects exposed to a competitive market are held to a more conservative debt-service coverage ratio.
