English Definition
A charge, typically one-off and non-refundable, paid to the network or infrastructure operator in return for connecting a project to the grid or system. In power projects this item can embed the cost of reinforcing the upstream transmission network, making it a material source of variance in the capital budget. Because the connection fee is often demanded upfront before financial close, it creates a bridging need; lenders frequently structure it as a condition precedent to be met from the sponsor's equity contribution rather than allowing it to be drawn under the loan.
