English Definition
A comprehensive reporting document presenting a group's consolidated financial statements together with management commentary, notes and risk disclosures, framing the group's financial position with context and explanation rather than statements alone. The notes — related-party transactions, contingent liabilities and off-balance-sheet commitments — frequently carry more decisive information than the primary statements. In project-finance due diligence, analysts read the notes to the consolidated report more carefully than the statements themselves, since the real risk layers, such as cross-guarantees, litigation provisions and restrictions on granting security, are usually buried there.
