English Definition
A shorthand reference to consolidated financial statements, presenting a group's results as a single economic whole by combining the accounts of parent and subsidiaries and eliminating intra-group items. While these statements give investors and lenders a picture of the group as a whole, they also risk obscuring the separate limits of legal liability of the individual entities. In project finance, lenders use consolidated statements to gauge overall group health, but revert to solo statements when deciding which entity to pursue, since enforcement can reach only the assets of the debtor entity itself.
