Sigortalı varlığın fiilen tümüyle yok olmadığı ancak onarım ya da kurtarma maliyetinin varlığın sigortalı değerini aşması ya da kurtarmanın makul biçimde mümkün olmaması nedeniyle tam ziya sayıldığı sigorta kavramıdır; deniz ve büyük ekipman sigortalarında sık başvurulur. Sigortalı, varlığı sigortacıya terk ederek tam tazminat talep edebilir. Proje finansmanında bu kavram, büyük türbin ya da trafo gibi kritik ekipmanın hasar görmesi durumunda tazminatın kredi verenin lehine tesis edilmiş temlik (loss payee) hükmü uyarınca doğrudan borç itfasına yönlendirilmesiyle önem kazanır.
English Definition
An insurance concept under which an insured asset, though not actually destroyed, is treated as a total loss because the cost of repair or recovery exceeds its insured value or recovery is not reasonably possible; it is common in marine and heavy-equipment cover. The insured may claim the full sum by abandoning the asset to the insurer. In project finance the concept gains weight where a critical item such as a large turbine or transformer is damaged, since the proceeds are channeled directly to debt prepayment under the loss-payee assignment established in the lender's favor.
