Sigortalı bir varlığın fiilen tümüyle yok olmadığı, ancak onarım ya da kurtarma maliyetinin varlığın kurtarıldıktan sonraki değerini aşması nedeniyle poliçe amaçları bakımından tam zıya sayıldığı sigorta halidir; sigortalı, varlığa ilişkin haklarını sigortacıya terk (abandonment) bildirimiyle devrederek tam tazminat talep edebilir. Büyük altyapı ve enerji projelerinin finansmanında bu kavram ağır ekipmanın deniz taşımasında kritik önem taşır; bir türbin ya da transformatörün sevkiyatta hükmi tam zıyaya uğraması, yalnızca sigorta tahsilatını değil, kredi çekiş takvimini ve ticari işletmeye alma (COD) tarihini de kaydırarak gecikme cezası zincirini tetikler.
English Definition
An insurance situation in which an insured asset is not physically destroyed but is treated as a total loss for policy purposes because the cost of repair or recovery would exceed the asset's value once recovered; the insured may claim in full by giving notice of abandonment, ceding its rights in the asset to the insurer. In the financing of large infrastructure and energy projects the concept is critical to the marine transport of heavy equipment, since a turbine or transformer suffering a constructive total loss in transit shifts not only the insurance recovery but the drawdown schedule and the commercial operation date, setting off a chain of delay penalties.
