The sector covering the design, manufacture, and sale of electronic devices for individual users — smart devices, home electronics, personal computing hardware — distinguished by short product life, rapid price erosion, and intense demand volatility. Project finance intersects with it mainly through manufacturing-facility investments (fabs, assembly lines), where the core tension is the mismatch between the plant's long depreciation life and the short commercial life of what it produces. Because consumer-electronics plants require retooling capital expenditure when a technology generation turns, the debt repayment profile must rest on the facility's convertibility rather than on a single product generation.
