English Definition
The exclusive legal rights granted to the creator of a work — including software, designs, and technical documentation — over its reproduction, distribution, and use; "copr" is the abbreviated mark of that right in documents. In project financing, copyright and intellectual property more broadly are an often-overlooked yet critical gap in security: if the control software, designs, and licences needed to operate an energy or infrastructure facility belong to third parties, the facility can become inoperable on the sponsor's insolvency or the termination of a contractor's contract. Lenders manage this risk by requiring that licences be granted directly to the SPV or secured through direct agreements carrying step-in rights.
