The telephone and communication infrastructure that routes a company's inbound and outbound contact through a single centre, forming the physical and operational point of entry between the enterprise and the outside world. Trivial as it seems, in demergers and carve-outs the divested business must keep using the seller's switchboard and numbers until it stands up its own, so the arrangement is typically negotiated as a line item under a transition services agreement. Experienced integration teams know that such shared infrastructure, if overlooked in the separation, is among the most frequent sources of post-closing operational disruption.
