En geniş anlamıyla, bir tarafın diğerine mal, hizmet ya da para sağlayıp karşılığını gelecekte, çoğu zaman faiziyle birlikte tahsil etme hakkını ifade eder; güvene ve geri ödeme kapasitesine dayanan her ertelenmiş ödeme ilişkisinin ortak adıdır. Muhasebede aynı sözcük, bir hesabın alacak tarafına yapılan kaydı anlatır ve borç (debit) kaydının karşıtıdır. Proje finansmanında kredi kavramı, salt bir borç ilişkisinden öte, projenin gelecekteki nakit akışına duyulan güvenin fiyatlanmasıdır; kredinin maliyeti ve koşulları, projenin kendi öz gücünden çok, geri ödemeyi güvence altına alan sözleşme yapısının sağlamlığıyla belirlenir.
English Definition
In its broadest sense, a party's right to provide goods, services or money to another and recover the value in the future, often with interest; the common name for any deferred-payment relationship resting on trust and repayment capacity. In accounting the same word denotes an entry made to the credit side of an account, the counterpart of a debit. In project finance credit means more than a mere debt relationship: it is the pricing of confidence in the project's future cash flow, and the cost and terms of the credit are set less by the project's inherent strength than by the robustness of the contractual structure securing repayment.
