English Definition
A sale in which payment falls due not on delivery but at an agreed later date, meaning the seller has in effect extended short-term trade credit to the buyer. The arrangement creates a trade receivable on the seller's balance sheet and a trade payable on the buyer's, sitting at the centre of the working-capital cycle. In project financing the credit-sale terms between EPC contractors and equipment suppliers quietly shape the construction-phase funding gap; lengthening the payment horizon reduces the need for bridge finance and therefore feeds straight into the cost of capital.
