Bir ekonominin dünyanın geri kalanıyla gerçekleştirdiği mal ve hizmet ticareti, birincil gelir (faiz, kâr payı, ücret) ve ikincil gelir (karşılıksız transferler) akımlarını bir arada kaydeden ödemeler dengesi bileşenidir; sermaye ve finans hesabından, geri ödeme yaratmayan cari nitelikli işlemleri kapsamasıyla ayrılır. Terim bankacılıkta vadesiz mevduat hesabını da imler, fakat proje finansmanı bağlamında asıl önemi makro düzeydedir. Zira kalıcı cari açık veren bir ülkede döviz kıtlığı ve transfer kısıtı olasılığı yükselir, bu da ülke risk primini ve dolayısıyla borçlanma maliyetini doğrudan besler.
English Definition
The component of the balance of payments that records a country's trade in goods and services together with primary income (interest, dividends, wages) and secondary income (unrequited transfers), distinguished from the capital and financial account by its coverage of transactions that create no repayment obligation. The same phrase denotes a demand-deposit banking account, but in project financing the macro sense dominates. A country running a persistent current-account deficit faces heightened odds of foreign-exchange scarcity and transfer restriction, which feed directly into the country risk premium and thus into borrowing cost.
