Piyasada güncel getiri seviyelerine en yakın kupon oranını taşıyan ve dolayısıyla fiyatı nominal değerine (par) yakın işlem gören menkul kıymeti, ya da ipoteğe dayalı menkul kıymet piyasasında par'a en yakın işlem gören kupon dilimini ifade eder. Cari kupon, yeni ihraçların fiyatlanmasında referans alındığı için piyasa faiz seviyesinin canlı bir göstergesidir. Proje finansmanında tahvil yoluyla yeniden finansmanı değerlendiren bir sponsor için cari kupon, çıkarılacak yeni kâğıdın taşıyacağı maliyetin ve dolayısıyla refinansman penceresinin açık olup olmadığının doğrudan işaretidir.
English Definition
A security carrying the coupon rate closest to prevailing market yields and therefore trading near its face value (par), or, in the mortgage-backed market, the coupon tranche trading nearest to par. Because the current coupon is the reference for pricing new issues, it is a live indicator of the market interest level. For a sponsor weighing a bond refinancing in project finance, the current coupon is a direct signal of the cost the new paper would carry and thus of whether the refinancing window stands open.
