English Definition
The movement of goods on which duty is unpaid, that are in transit, or that are high-risk, accompanied by customs officers from one point to another, aimed at preventing smuggling and untaxed diversion en route while adding time and cost to a shipment. Where heavy, indivisible project equipment is hauled inland, customs escort is an item that must be accounted for separately in the logistics plan on both schedule and budget; a slip in the escort program can miss the delivery window and cascade into construction delay.
