English Definition
The fee a customs authority charges for accompanying duty-unpaid or in-transit goods with officers, calculated on distance, personnel and duration, and forming an often-unanticipated customs friction added to the landed cost of an import. On projects hauling heavy equipment to remote or inland sites, the escort charge looks minor on a single shipment yet, aggregated across repeated consignments, becomes a visible item in the logistics budget that a complete landed-cost calculation is expected to capture.
