English Definition
The official receipt evidencing that a customs authority has collected the duties, levies and other charges due, serving as proof that goods were lawfully imported and their taxes paid, and underpinning a range of downstream steps from capitalizing the cost in the accounts to filing for a tax refund. In project financings where a lender conditions a drawdown on imported equipment actually reaching site, the customs receipt can sit among the verification documents demonstrating that the capex was spent and the goods cleared customs.
