The official currency the Czech Republic has retained by declining to adopt the euro despite its European Union membership, managed under a freely floating regime that remains open to central-bank intervention. In project finance across Central and Eastern Europe the currency exemplifies the typical mismatch in which revenue is denominated in the local koruna while debt is often in euros or dollars; that currency gap prompts lenders to require either a natural hedge or a long-dated swap, and the cost and collateral of the swap can constrain the project's debt capacity independently of the revenue forecast.
