Bir temerrüt olayının gerçekleşmesi üzerine, kredi verenin normalde vadeye yayılmış olan borcun tamamını derhal ve tek seferde muaccel kılma hakkını kullanmasıdır; kredi sözleşmelerinin en güçlü yaptırım aracıdır. Proje finansmanında acceleration nadiren fiilen tetiklenir, zira limited-recourse bir projede borcun tümünü talep etmek çoğu zaman projeyi çökertir ve kredi vereni de zarara sürükler; bu nedenle acceleration hakkı asıl gücünü, kullanılma tehdidiyle yeniden yapılandırma masasında kredi verene sağladığı kaldıraçtan alır. Fiilî tetikleme genellikle son çaredir, müzakere aracı değil.
English Definition
The lender's exercise, on an event of default, of its right to make the entire debt — normally spread over the tenor — immediately due and payable in one demand; it is the most powerful enforcement tool in credit agreements. In project finance acceleration is rarely actually triggered, since in a limited-recourse project demanding the whole debt usually collapses the project and drags the lender into loss as well; the acceleration right therefore draws its real power from the leverage the threat of its use gives the lender at the restructuring table. Actual triggering is generally a last resort, not a negotiating instrument.
