Vadesi gelmiş olduğu halde ödenmemiş anapara veya faiz tutarını ifade eder; alacak henüz tümüyle muaccel kılınmamış olsa dahi gecikme, kredi verenin haklarını tetikleyen ilk eşiktir. Proje finansmanında birikmiş gecikmeler çoğu zaman doğrudan temerrüt ilanına değil, önce nakit akışının rezerv hesaplarından desteklenmesine ve bir düzeltme (cure) süresine yol açar. Egemen ve çok taraflı kredilerde ise gecikmenin süresi kritik bir sınıflandırma eşiğidir; belirli bir günü aşan gecikme, kredinin donuk alacak statüsüne düşmesine ve alacaklının karşılık ayırma zorunluluğuna neden olur.
English Definition
Principal or interest that has fallen due but remains unpaid; even where the claim has not yet been fully accelerated, the delay is the first threshold that triggers the lender's rights. In project finance, accumulated arrears usually lead not to an immediate declaration of default but first to cash flow being topped up from reserve accounts and to a cure period. In sovereign and multilateral lending the duration of arrears is a critical classification threshold, since delay beyond a set number of days pushes the loan into non-performing status and compels the creditor to raise provisions.
