English Definition
A default event arising when a borrower fails to make required principal, interest, or fee payments on the due date specified in a financing agreement. It is one of the most fundamental events of default in loan documentation and may trigger acceleration of the entire outstanding balance. Grace periods are often provided before the failure formally constitutes a default.
