English Definition
The portion of income set aside in financial assets rather than consumed or invested in real assets, including bank deposits, securities, insurance policies, and pension contributions. Financial savings represent a key source of domestic capital formation and are channelled through the financial system to productive investment. The rate of financial savings relative to GDP is an important indicator of an economy's financial depth.
