Hukumet veya merkez bankasinin ulusal para birimini baska bir para birimine, bir para birimi sepetine veya altin gibi bir emtiaya onceden belirlenmis bir oranda sabitledigu kur rejimidir. Para otoritesi, sabitlemeyi surdurmek icin doviz piyasalarinda rezerv satin alip satarak mudahale eder. Sabit doviz kurlari ticaret ve yatirim kesinligi saglar ancak yeterli doviz rezervi gerektirir ve para politikasi bagimsizligini sinirlandiirarak makroekonomik stres donemlerinde gerilimler yaratabilir.
English Definition
A currency regime in which the government or central bank pegs the national currency to another currency, a basket of currencies, or a commodity such as gold at a predetermined rate. The monetary authority intervenes in foreign exchange markets to maintain the peg by buying or selling reserves. Fixed exchange rates provide trade and investment certainty but require sufficient foreign reserves and may limit monetary policy independence, creating tensions during periods of macroeconomic stress.
