English Definition
A form of inventory financing in which a lender advances funds to a dealer or retailer to purchase goods for display and resale, with the inventory itself serving as collateral. As each item is sold, the dealer repays the corresponding portion of the loan. Floor planning is commonly used in automobile, equipment, and consumer durables dealerships to fund showroom inventory.
