English Definition
A banking term indicating the date on which funds become available or a transaction takes effect for interest calculation purposes. For value instructions specify when a payment or transfer should be credited to the beneficiary's account. The value date determines the start of interest accrual and is distinct from the trade date or booking date of the transaction.
