English Definition
The process of converting financial statements of foreign subsidiaries or branches from their functional currency into the parent company's reporting currency for consolidation purposes. Translation methods include the current rate method and the temporal method, each producing different impacts on reported earnings and equity. Translation adjustments are typically recognised in other comprehensive income rather than the income statement.
