English Definition
A front-end commission is a fee charged at the inception of a financial transaction, investment, or insurance policy rather than being spread over the life of the arrangement. In investment funds, this commission is deducted from the initial investment amount before units are allocated, reducing the net amount invested. Front-end commissions compensate distributors and advisers for their sales efforts and are typically disclosed in the product's prospectus or key information document.
