English Definition
An unconditional acceptance of a bill of exchange in which the drawee agrees to pay the full amount stated on the instrument without imposing any qualifications or modifications. General acceptance contrasts with qualified acceptance, where the drawee attaches conditions such as partial payment or a different payment date. Under the Bills of Exchange Act, a general acceptance binds the acceptor to honour the instrument according to its original terms at maturity.
