A qualified professional authorised to assess the market value of a broad range of asset types, including real property, personal property, and business interests, rather than specialising in a single asset class. General appraisers must hold relevant certifications and comply with recognised valuation standards such as the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. Their valuations serve as a basis for lending decisions, tax assessments, insurance coverage, and dispute resolution.
