English Definition
The process by which national economies, financial markets, and regulatory systems become increasingly interconnected through the liberalisation of trade, capital flows, investment, and labour mobility. Global integration reduces barriers to cross-border transactions, enhances capital allocation efficiency, and promotes technology transfer, but also increases systemic risk transmission and regulatory arbitrage opportunities. For developing countries, global integration presents both growth opportunities through foreign direct investment and vulnerabilities to external economic shocks and capital flow volatility.
