English Definition
An investment strategy in which a trader sells a financial instrument, commodity, or security that they do not currently own, with the intention of repurchasing it at a lower price in the future to profit from an anticipated price decline. Going short involves borrowing the asset from a broker or counterparty and is subject to margin requirements, short-selling regulations, and the theoretical risk of unlimited losses if the price rises instead of falling.
