Merchandise that has been shipped or sent from the seller's premises or warehouse to the buyer or a designated delivery point, representing the transfer of physical possession and, depending on the applicable trade terms, the transfer of risk and title. In accounting, goods despatched are removed from the seller's inventory records and recognised as cost of goods sold upon the satisfaction of revenue recognition criteria. Proper documentation of goods despatched, including shipping notices and bills of lading, is essential for inventory management, customs clearance, and the settlement of trade finance instruments.
