An internal document prepared by the receiving department of a buyer confirming the arrival, quantity, and condition of goods delivered by a supplier, serving as the basis for updating inventory records and authorising payment processing. The GRN is cross-referenced against the original purchase order and the supplier's delivery note to identify any discrepancies in quantity, specification, or quality. In procurement and supply chain management, the goods received note forms a critical element of the three-way matching process that controls accounts payable and prevents fraudulent or erroneous payments.
