A classification category within the Incoterms rules published by the International Chamber of Commerce that clusters trade terms according to the level of responsibility, cost, and risk borne by the seller and buyer in an international sale of goods. Incoterms are organised into groups such as E, F, C, and D, with each successive group shifting progressively more obligations to the seller. Understanding the applicable Incoterm group is essential for correctly allocating freight, insurance, customs clearance, and delivery risks in cross-border procurement and project supply contracts.
