Doviz islemlerinde bir tarafin sattigi para birimini teslim etmesine ragmen, zaman dilimi farklari veya karsi taraf temerrudi nedeniyle satin aldigi para birimini alamamasindan kaynaklanan takas riskidir. 1974'te Almanya'da Bankhaus Herstatt'in iflasi nedeniyle bu isimle anilmakta olup CLS Bank gibi odeme karsliginda odeme sistemlerinin gelistirilmesini tetiklemistir. Herstatt riski sinir otesi finansal islemlerde temel bir endise olmaya devam etmektedir.
English Definition
Settlement risk in foreign exchange transactions arising when one party delivers the currency it has sold but does not receive the currency it has purchased, due to time zone differences or counterparty default. Named after the 1974 failure of Bankhaus Herstatt in Germany, this risk prompted the development of payment-versus-payment systems such as CLS Bank. Herstatt risk remains a key concern in cross-border financial transactions.
