English Definition
Banknotes or bills of exchange that are known or suspected to have been obtained through theft, fraud, or other criminal activity. Banks and financial institutions maintain hot lists to identify and intercept the circulation of such instruments. Handling hot bills unknowingly does not typically create criminal liability, but failure to report suspicious instruments may constitute a regulatory violation.
